Genocide in Darfur

The Darfur Genocide has killed more than 400,000 civilians and has left 2.5 million people displaced from their home. The thing I just learned right now is that Darfur is the size of Texas. From what I know about this situation which is not much being in Darfur right now must be really bad. Also that people are still dying and the government is not doing anything to stop it. I feel really bad for what has happened their and what is still going on their right now. Also I learned about an Arab Militia group called the Janjaweed who is doing all the killings for the government. For example going into villages and killing people and destroying their properties. The hard thing to believe is that the government is the one that is sponsoring the group, which is the Rwanda government. Why would you want to kill people in your own country, that’s what is bothering me the most.

Plans For Summer

Summer break is about to start and I can’t wait for it. This has been a hard school year for me because I thought it would be easy like last year but I was wrong and I really struggled in my classes. This year I just got by not trying that hard but next year ill try harder because I really want to go to a good college. Going to watch movies during summer are one of the things me and my friends do for fun. Every time there is a good movie out we usually go watch it, but because of school it gets sort of hard to do so we go watch movies mostly during the end of the school year and during summer and breaks. We started doing that by going to watch X-men Origins Wolverine. It was I think the best X-men movie ever but also the best superhero movie. I have always liked superhero movies but this one was way better I don’t know why but it is. I have always liked X-men movies since the first one and I still do. The reason I liked this movie more is because they added my favorite character from X-men which is gambit. I also liked the acting done by everybody. So overall it is the superhero movie for me previously my favorite superhero movie was Iron Man which is now my second favorite movie. So far I and my friends have already made a decision that we will go watch the new Terminator movie and the new Transformer movie. I will also go watch another movie called Public Enemies for sure, probably not with my friends; it will be with my bro. While we go to the movies we also get a chance to hang out at the mall and have fun. I will also go to other places to hang out with my friends and have a good time. I also hope that me and my family get to spend time and we have a good time. Finally I also hope that we go out of Austin for a while. Now that I have said what I am going to do during summer I hope that nobody stalks me. JK

China one child policy

China’s one child policy is the topic of my blog today. First of all China’s one child policy is that people in china can only have one kid and if they have more than one kid they have to kill it or put the kid up for adoption. It was established by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit communist China's population growth. It has also been said that the policy will remain at least until 2010. It is also said that the population has been reduced by 250 million. There are some good things to this policy but some bad things as well in this policy, which is what I will talk about. Sure the one child policy helps slow down the population but at what effect. Some people want to have a big family while some don’t. The people that do want to have a big family cant do anything about it unless they move from china. The people that don’t want to have a big family, this policy helps them because they have a reason for having a big family and if they do have a kid they can just abort it or put the baby up for adoption when it’s born. Last year in my World Geography class I learned that there are also more boys born then girls. I think it has some thing to do with the policy. Parents over their will prefer boys over girls so they can help them in the future instead of getting married and going away. You can have a second child in china but the first child has to be a girl. That was sort of a good thing, now the bad things is that if you do have more kids then two you will have to pay large amount of fines. That’s what I think about the policy.

My favorite musician/singer and bands

Who is my favorite musician/singer? I usually listen to every kind of music. From Rap to Rock, to even some Pakistani music. I am one of those people who like music a lot but don’t have a real favorite musician. So I will just talk about the singer who I listen to the most and like. My favorite Rapper is Snoop Dogg and sometimes I also listen to Akon. I started listening to rap when I was a kid from my friends and my brother and since then I have listened and liked rap. I don’t remember when I first started listening to Snoop Dogg but for some reason I like him as a rapper. Akon I started listening to around 8th grade. I listened to two of his famous songs I wanna love you and smack that from the album Konvicted and since then I have liked some of his music. The other song that I like of his album was don’t matter. Those three songs are in my top 10 or 20. I also like Fort Miner for the song Remember the Name it is sort of old but I think it’s still good. Like I said I also listen to some rock music. Really I don’t care whose singing it or what band is it but as long as I like it. I don’t know a lot of bands but my favorite band is Linkin Park and I even listen to some songs of Saliva. I don’t know but for some reasons the movies that I like, I end up liking songs from those movies. I also listen to some Pakistani songs. The only Pakistani singer I listen to is Atif Aslam. I didn’t even listen to him until couple of months ago. I heard a song and I liked it but didn’t know the singer until couple of months ago. Since then I have listened to more of his songs and I have liked them. Out of all the singers that I know and like, I like him the best. He was also once the leader of a band but he split from them and started making his own songs and stuff. Those are some of the favorite musicians/singers and bands.

Global Warming

First of all global warming is gradual increase in the earth's surface temperature. Some people are saying that it is caused by effects of the greenhouse gases which are emitted by humans. A group of scientists called International Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, said that there are several ways that global warming is happening because of the greenhouse gases. Most of which comes from combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity products. Also because of that ice is melting especially at the Earths poles. The sea level has risen faster over the last century. Raining and snowing has increased around the world. We can use alternative ways to power the world such as; biofuel, fuel cells, geothermal energy, hydropower, solar energy and also, wind power. Recently I learned that Texas is America’s biggest greenhouse gas polluter. Some scientists are predicting that we will be driven into extinction. According to some researchers the most places that are at risk are Tropical Andes, Southwest Australia, California and Africa. There are also do some other stuff to help against global warming. Start recycling more, use less heat and air conditioning, drive less, turn of lights and stuff when you’re not using them, and also tell others to do the same. Austin also has a plan called Austin Climate Protection Plan to help fight against global warming and it was created by Austin’s mayor Will Wynn. It hopes by 2020 it will make most things by carbon-neutral which includes cars, municipal facilities operations. At least I know that Austin is doing something about global warming as far as I know. My school recycles or something like that between a week and a month.

Spring break

Finally spring break is here. This is the 2nd thing I look forward to after winter break. The first is when school is over and you can move to another grade after a big break. Before the week of spring break it gets really hard to pay attention in any class for me so I try my best just go on. The Friday before spring breaks gets sort of weird. Basically you do nothing in class most of the time and just chill with your friends and have fun. This Friday has been sort of the same but I have done work in all my classes except one. The work wasn’t hard though. Well we also were in lockdown because of couple of reasons. One there were lots of fights today. Some people are saying between 6 and 14 fights. Some people are also saying there have been some threats to the school today. They say that somebody with a gun is in school but they don’t know who. So there a lot of teachers and PISD officers here watching the hallways. So finally the day is over I go home and relax. I might go to Houston or Dallas during the break to meet my cousins I will get bored though, that’s the only part that I don’t like. I will also probably go watch some movies but I don’t know which ones. I will also hang out with my friends and go to the mall or hang out at their places. Some teacher also decided to give us HW over the break and that sucks. I have to read out of some big stupid book because we have a quiz, which she probably won’t count them like always. I still hope that my spring break goes good and I have doing what I will be doing.

How do I use Technology

I use Technology in a lot of different ways. I use my cell phone, my computer, my PS3 and some other little stuffs. I use my Cell phone basically to talk to people. I also use it as a alarm in the morning so I can wake up. I take pictures and videos from my phone to and listen to music. Also whenever I'm bored i play some games on my phone to make the time go faster. That is how i use my cellphone. I use my computer to do a lot of things. I use Instant Messaging to chat with my friends. I also use Face book and My Space to talk to my friends and edit my profile for fun. I watch movies online if I'm bored. I listen to music while I'm on the computer while doing my homework. I also play games on it if i have nothing else to do. My favorite website is ESPN.com, because i can watch sports highlights on it and know what happened like a trade or something. I also play games on ESPN.com because they have couple of good games on the website. That is how i use my computer. I usually use my ps3 to play games. My favorite game is Madden 2009. I also can watch movies on it but i dont because i already have a DVD player in my room so i dont need to use my ps3 for it. I also shop stuff from the built in playstation store. Like look for new backgrounds and downloadable stuff for the games. I also listen to music on my ps3 sometimes. That is the way i use my ps3. Some other ways i use technology is my mp3 player which i use to listen to music. I also watch TV. Those are the main stuff i use for technology.

This is Azim

I was born May, 14, 1993 in Austin, Texas. I have lived in Austin all my life except for when we moved to Dallas for about a year and a half. Living Austin was better then living in Dallas because I was new and did not have that many friends while all my friends lived in Austin.I have also been to Pakistan a couple of times during my life and I hope to go there more times, because most of my family lives over there. The hardest challenge that I have done in my life so far is fasting during the month of Ramadan. It is part of my religion and is where you fast from sunrise to sundown during the month. I started school in 1998. While in elementary school I had switched between 3 schools and my favorite school was Dessau Elementary. I went to Dessau Middle school for all three years and currently I am a sophomore at Connally High School. My least favorite subject is math because I am not good at it, and social studies is my favorite subject because it is the easiest of them all. I am a very good reader. My favorite book is Lord of the Shadows from the series Cirque Du Freak. I am also really good with computers and electronical stuff. I enjoy playing my PS3. I also like watching and playing football, and my favorite football team are the Cleveland Browns. My favorite T.V shows are Family Guy and the Simpson's, and my 2 favorite movies are Ironman and the Dark Knight. I also like watching superhero movies like Ironman and the Dark Knight because they are mostly good. I enjoy listening to rap music. My favorite types of shoes are any kind of Nike’s and Adidas.
